Part-Time/Full-Time Floral Designer/Shop Assistant Job Summary We are seeking a talented, enthusiastic Floral Designer/Shop Assistant to join our team. This versatile role combines creative floral design with hands-on retail and shop support responsibilities. The ideal candidate loves working with flowers, enjoys interacting with customers, and can multitask effectively in a busy retail setting. You will help bring customers' visions to life while keeping the shop beautiful, organized, and welcoming. Key Responsibilities Floral Design & Creation Design and create custom and pre-designed floral arrangements, bouquets, centerpieces, wreaths, and other displays using fresh flowers, greenery, and accessories. Consult with customers to understand their needs, preferences, occasion, budget, and style to recommend and create personalized arrangements. Follow design recipes, photos, or sketches to replicate arrangements accurately and consistently.
Prepare flowers and foliage:
conditioning, trimming, wiring, and arranging stems for longevity and aesthetic appeal. Customer Service & Sales Provide warm, knowledgeable assistance to customers both in-person and over the phone/online. Offer expert advice on flower selection, care instructions, and gift recommendations. Process sales transactions accurately using POS systems (cash, card, etc.). Wrap and package completed arrangements beautifully for pickup or delivery. Handle incoming orders, including phone, walk-in, and online requests. Shop Operations & Maintenance Receive, unpack, process, and rotate incoming flower deliveries; ensure proper hydration and storage. Maintain fresh, attractive displays, coolers, and merchandising throughout the shop. Keep the design area, sales floor, cooler, and backroom clean, organized, and sanitary. Assist with inventory management, stock rotation, and identifying low-stock items. Help with general shop tasks such as sweeping, watering plants, and preparing for events or busy periods. Additional Duties Occasionally assist with event setup, deliveries, or off-site work (e.g., weddings, markets) as needed. Extra hours required during peak holidays Requirements & Qualifications Previous experience in floral design required (min 1 year)(formal training or apprenticeship a plus); strong creative ability. Knowledge of common flowers, greenery, care techniques, and basic design principles. Excellent customer service skills with a friendly, positive, and patient demeanor. Strong attention to detail and artistic eye for color, texture, and balance. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and work in a cooler environment. Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail setting with flexible availability (including weekends, some evenings, and holidays). Basic math skills for pricing and transactions. Familiarity with POS systems is a plus but not required (training provided). Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented with a genuine passion for flowers and people.
