Floral Designer FLSA Classification:

Hourly Non-Exempt Summary:

Design, cut, and arrange live, dried, or artificial flowers and foliage. Responsible for all flowers and plants, including pricing, dressing and daily maintenance, inventory management and flower cooler rotation maintenance.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent. Floral design experience of more than 1 year required.

• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Requires communication with other via telephone, face-to-face or otherwise Tasks
• Confer with clients regarding price and type of arrangement desired and the date, time, and place of delivery.
• Responsible for selection of flora and foliage for arrangements, working with numerous combinations to synthesize and develop new creations.
• May on occasion deliver arrangements to customers
• Water plants, and cut, condition, and clean flowers and foliage for storage.
• Trim material and arrange bouquets, wreaths, terrariums, and other items using trimmers, shapers, wire, pins, floral tape, foam, and other materials.
• Dress and price plants.
• Daily maintenance of all plants.
• Process incoming Flowers and Unpack stock as it comes into the shop, check-in inventory received to invoices for accuracy.
• Inform customers about the care, maintenance, and handling of various flowers and foliage, indoor plants, and other items.
• Perform general cleaning duties in the store to ensure the shop is clean and tidy including cooler rotation, changing water of fresh flowers etc.
• Maintain fruit basket supplies and inventory; alerting management when supply levels are low or need replacement.
• Procument of inventory as needed and directed by management.
• Organize and maintain stock shelves of supplies and vases.
• Decorate buildings, halls, churches, or other facilities for parties, weddings and other occasions as needed.
• Use Helium tank as applicable for balloon orders.
• Create and change in-store and window displays, designs and looks to enhance shop image as directed.
• Conduct classes or demonstrations as needed.
• Continuing Education and Industry Involvement Recommended.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
