Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Under the direction of the Supervisor I Branch Chief, the incumbent utilizes a variety of typesetting, page layout, graphic, and scanning software operating on PC platform in the preparation and layout of forms, publications, brochures, banners and other display materials. The incumbent works from copy or digital media to plan and prepare print-ready copy or electronic files for the traditional or digital publication of forms, charts, diagrams, publications, brochures, banners, posters, poster laminate, etc. The incumbent may consult with clients to determine an agreed-upon end product and make recommendations for proper job specifications and layout enhancements. The incumbent exercises a high degree of judgment in determining the most appropriate technique, preparation, and setup of the electronic file for production and does other related work. Working Conditions Employees will work in a climate-controlled environment under artificial light. However, due to periodic problems with the heating and air conditioning, the building temperature may fluctuate. Employees will be exposed to loud noise from, but not limited to, Reprographics equipment. Chemicals, some of which may be hazardous, are present in the environment. Such chemicals include ink, toner, NCR paper, paper dust, flammable materials, etc. Some Reprographics equipment are potentially dangerous to use, such as cutters, stitcher/stapler, punch drill, scissors, etc. Overtime may be required and vacations may be restricted during peak times, lack of coverage, and fiscal year-end closing.
