Job Description

The Graphic Designer supports the communications and marketing efforts of the College of Education by creating visually compelling print and digital materials that strengthen the college's brand, elevate storytelling and support student recruitment, advancement, academic programs, events and institutional initiatives. We are looking for someone who has a passion for graphic design and stays current on design trends, higher education marketing best practices and emerging digital platforms. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong creative and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into engaging visual designs. They possess a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to producing polished, high-quality work while managing multiple projects and deadlines. The candidate should be able to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment, maintaining strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service-oriented approach when working with faculty, staff and campus partners. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
Degree Equivalency Clause:
Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.

  • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
  • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree;
  • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree;
  • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
  • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
  • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
  • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in higher education, nonprofit or public sector communications Knowledge of social media design best practices and digital marketing trends Familiarity with email marketing platforms Experience designing magazines and impact reports Basic motion graphics experience is a plus Experience developing creative assets within an established brand identity
Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign Strong understanding of typography, layout, branding and digital design principles Experience designing both print and digital platforms Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams. Experience creating accessible and inclusive design materials that are ADA compliant when integrated into a CMS and uploaded to social Design marketing and communications materials including brochures, flyers, postcards, digital ads, social media graphics, presentations, signage, annual reports and event collateral. This person will collaborate with the marketing department and campus partners on integrated projects and events. Create graphics and visual assets for web, email and social media campaigns. Support recruitment and enrollment marketing initiatives through creative design and campaign materials. Assist in developing creative concepts and visual storytelling strategies for college initiatives and campaigns. Prepare files for print production and coordinate with vendors as needed. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
