Job Description

Position Overview Summit City Steel Erection is seeking a skilled, self-motivated Equipment Bodywork and Graphics Technician to join our growing operations team. This is a multifaceted role supporting our fleet maintenance, equipment appearance, and in-house graphics capabilities. The successful candidate will perform cosmetic and structural bodywork on company vehicles and equipment, maintain and refresh equipment finishes through painting and refinishing, handle insulated metal panel repair and repainting, design and install vinyl graphics on equipment and control panels, and contribute to our goal of maximizing equipment value and professional presentation across all job sites. Key Responsibilities Perform bodywork on company trucks and equipment, including dent repair, panel straightening, welding repairs, and surface preparation. Paint, touch up, and refinish trucks and equipment as needed, including full repaints and auction preparation work. Repair and refinish 22-gauge insulated metal panels with cosmetic denting, using appropriate straightening and painting techniques. Design vinyl graphics using industry-standard software for equipment branding, signage, and control panel labeling. Print vinyl graphics in-house using company equipment. Install and apply vinyl graphics on trucks, equipment, and control panels with precision and attention to detail. Replace worn or damaged graphics on equipment control panels to maintain safety and functionality. Maintain shop equipment and tools in proper working order. Ensure all work meets safety standards and company quality expectations. Communicate proactively with management regarding project timelines, material needs, and equipment status. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of hands-on bodywork and painting experience. Proficiency in automotive or equipment bodywork, dent repair, and surface preparation. Welding experience and ability to perform structural and cosmetic welds on trucks and equipment. Strong understanding of paint mixing, application, and finish techniques. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative on assigned tasks. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles. Willingness to learn and self-teach new skills, particularly vinyl graphics design and installation. Preferred Qualifications Experience with vinyl graphics design, printing, and installation. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or similar design software. Experience with heavy equipment and truck refinishing. Familiarity with fleet maintenance environments. Experience preparing equipment for resale or auction. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work in various weather conditions. Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces as needed. Capable of performing repetitive motions and fine motor work. Work Environment This position operates primarily in our shop facility and on job sites. The role involves exposure to paint fumes, welding equipment, and hand tools. Personal protective equipment will be provided and is required. Hours are standard full-time, with occasional flexibility based on project demands.
Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
