Inner-Tite products are proudly manufactured in the United States with the main office and a 100,000 square foot manufacturing plant located in central Massachusetts. Inner-Tite Corp. has an immediate need for a self-driven, very reliable individual with a safety-first attitude who will be responsible for: Primary Functions Set up and adjust Acme-Gridley 6-spindle screw machines, including tools, cams, attachments, feeds, and speeds Select, install, and adjust cutting tools, form tools, drills, taps, and inserts. Perform first piece inspections and routine in-process checks using micrometers, calipers, indicators and bore gages. Set-up and oversee the operation of assigned Multi-Spindle Screw Machines with the goal of maximizing productivity, ensuring quality, promoting safety and protecting the environment. Carry out the administrative policies of the company. Assure proper maintenance of machinery, accessories, tools and gauges within the battery. Train and qualify Set-Up Trainees, Operators, and other department personnel. Carry out the directives of the Foreman of the Multi-Spindle Department.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Strong understanding of cam-driven machining principles. As a prerequisite for this position, the Set-Up Person shall have demonstrated the knowledge, ability and performance to set-up all Multi-Spindle Screw Machines in the department in a workmanlike manner and within allocated set-up times. Duties include setting up machines as directed by the Foreman, preparing and updating set-up charts, making adjustments, sharpening and resetting tools, adapting pick up tools. Required to own a complete set of tools adequate to perform the work of a Set-Up Person. This job description lists the principal responsibilities and duties for the position of Set-Up Person, Labor Grade 9, in the Multi-Spindle Department, but it shall not be construed to represent or define the total responsibilities of this position. Education and/or
Experience:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); plus 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations.
Mathematical Skills:
Requires a thorough knowledge of shop mathematics. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Competencies:
  • Supervises and organizes Machine Operators in the most efficient and productive manner to insure that established quality standards and production rates are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Quality Management - Employs safe working procedures and promotes safety by practicing good housekeeping in the department.
  • Safety and Security - Promotes an environmentally-safe working area. Promotes the proper handling of hazardous waste, cutting oil and chemicals in an environmentally safe manner. Promptly cleans up spillage of all hazardous waste in a safe manner.
  • A thorough knowledge of blueprint reading, screw machine practices, cycle times, speeds and feeds, machining properties of carbon steel, stainless steel, iron, brass and aluminum plus an advanced knowledge of inspection procedures.
  • Responsible for the proper care and handling of tooling prior to, during and after a production run.
  • Responsible for the supervision of assigned personnel in all matters including inspection procedures, lubrication of equipment, maintenance of equipment, minor repairs, changing and adding fluid and chip removal.
  • Responsible for all records and production reporting for the assigned machinery.
  • Responsible for operating degreasers.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
