Job Description

Overview Join our innovative manufacturing team as a Senior Prototype Machinist specializing in CNC Lathe operations and Tool & Die development. In this dynamic role, you will leverage your expertise to produce high-precision prototypes and tooling components that drive product development forward. Your hands-on skills and technical knowledge will be essential in creating complex parts, ensuring tight tolerances, and supporting the transition from concept to functional prototype. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge machinery and contribute to the creation of industry-leading products. Duties Operate CNC lathes, milling machines, and other precision machining equipment to produce prototype parts and tooling components with exceptional accuracy. Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM software, ensuring optimal machining processes for complex geometries. Read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications, and CAD models to accurately manufacture parts. Set up machines with appropriate tooling, fixtures, and measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Perform precision measurements using advanced measuring instruments to verify part dimensions and tolerances throughout the machining process. Utilize electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for intricate or hard-to-machine features when necessary. Maintain a clean, safe workspace by properly handling hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols including forklift operation when required. Requirements Proven experience as a CNC lathe specialist with a strong background in tool and die manufacturing or prototype machining. Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as Fanuc or similar control systems. Solid understanding of GD&T principles, blueprint reading, and mechanical drawing interpretation. Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM), CAM programming software, SolidWorks, CAD software, and manufacturing best practices. Mechanical aptitude with experience in plastics injection molding, assembly processes, welding, and lean manufacturing principles. Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Basic math skills for calculating dimensions and tolerances accurately. Familiarity with CNC milling machines along with CNC lathe operations. Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail; capable of troubleshooting machining issues efficiently. Ability to self-inspect using precision measurement tools Proven ability to work independently and solve complex machining challenges Candidates must have deep CNC lathe experience in a prototype or job shop environment . Production-only backgrounds will not be considered.
Pay:
$60.00 - $80.00 per hour
