Lead Day Habilitation Specialist - Bethpage Day Habilitation Program Help Others to

We have great opportunities for positive, motivated individuals to work in a day hab setting assisting adults diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disabilities in becoming self-sufficient and self-actualized. Get in on the ground floor and train for an entry level career in the healthcare/education field! In this position, you will: Help program participants achieve/exceed their personal goals;Provide structure and emotional support; Assist in resolving behavioral issues; Help people supported with personal hygiene; Complete detailed, accurate documentation Transport the people supported to and from volunteer and pre-vocational activities using Agency vehicles.
We require:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.

One-year experience in OPWDD field required. Two (2) years of ACLD experience preferred.

Complete (within 90 days of hire) and maintain required training in SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) Restrictive Certification, CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation), First Aid, and AED (Automated External Defibrillator).Obtain (within 180 days of hire) and maintain AMAP (Approved Medication Administration Personnel).The ability to assist with lifting and transferring a person.

Ability to communicate and understand in English; both verbally and in writing.

Clean valid NYS drivers license.

Ability to apply common sense understanding, to carry out detailed written or oral instruction. Ability to deal with practical problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsExcellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to coach and counsel, interpret and advise, and the ability to develop and present to professional forumsAbility to communicate and understand English; both verbally and in writing
