Graphic Designer - Signs and Production

Role Overview We're a local sign shop looking for a Graphic Designer who doesn't just love making things look good but also has a desire to understand how they're actually built. In this role, you'll be the bridge between a client's vision and our production floor. You'll spend your day designing everything from lobby signs and suite signs to custom banners and parking signs, then preparing those files so our fabricators and installers can execute them successfully.

Key Responsibilities Creative Design:

Create original layouts for large-format print, dimensional lettering, vehicle graphics, and architectural signage.

Client Communication:

Work with clients, in person and via email, to discuss their projects.

Technical Pre-Press:

Set up print-ready and cut-ready files, including cut contours, bleeds, overprints, and nesting for vinyl plotters, large-format printers, flat-bed printers and laser cutting equipment.

Production Communication:

Create detailed "spec sheets" for the shop team. Specifications include substrates, laminates, hardware requirements, and assembly methods.

Quality Control:

Audit finished products against initial design specifications to ensure adherence to brand standards and technical requirements.

Required Qualifications Software Proficiency:

Advanced mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Technical Expertise:

Strong understanding of vector-based design, typography, color theory (Pantone matching), and resolution requirements for large-scale output.

Communication:

Exceptional ability to translate design concepts into actionable technical instructions for fabrication and installation teams. Preferred Additional Experience Understand the difference between vector and raster file types. Know when to recommend different substates (ACM, PVC, Acrylic, Aluminum) for different signs based on where and how the sign is to be used. Experience with RIP software (e.g., Onyx, Caldera, or FlexiSign). Hands-on experience with vinyl weeding or mounting.

Pay:

$25.50 - $31.00 per hour
