Multiple Position Overview We are seeking experienced Mechanical Designers to support the development of complex mechanical systems within a heavy vehicle manufacturing environment. In this role, you will create innovative design concepts, detailed 3D models, and production-ready engineering drawings for large-scale mechanical assemblies and vehicle systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing heavy welded structures and mechanical systems used in industries such as military vehicles, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, or other heavy industrial equipment. This position requires advanced Creo proficiency, including both parametric modeling and fully associative drawing creation. Key Responsibilities Develop mechanical design concepts for components, assemblies, tooling, and vehicle systems. Create detailed 3D models and production drawings using Creo. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to define and refine design requirements. Prepare layouts, sketches, specifications, and supporting engineering documentation. Develop and maintain drawing packages in accordance with ASME and military standards. Review engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable requirements. Evaluate designs for manufacturability, producibility, performance, and cost effectiveness. Perform tolerance analyses, mass property calculations, and design evaluations. Identify design issues, interferences, omissions, and integration concerns and recommend solutions. Support engineering change activities, including revisions and change notices. Provide technical design support throughout product development and production. Assist in the development and maintenance of design standards and best practices. Required Qualifications Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Mechanical Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Minimum 6 years of drafting and design experience. Minimum 2 years of mechanical design experience. Advanced proficiency with Creo, including: Fully parametric 3D modeling Assembly modeling and detailing Model-based design Fully associative drawing creation Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and drafting standards. Experience creating engineering documentation to ASME and/or military standards. Ability to perform engineering calculations and design evaluations. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting defense, military, or government programs. Familiarity with military specifications (MIL-Specs). Experience supporting engineering change management processes. Knowledge of welded structures, fabrication methods, and heavy equipment manufacturing. Understanding of machining processes and manufacturing best practices. Ideal Background Candidates with experience designing large welded assemblies and structural systems within the following industries are highly preferred: Military and defense vehicles Construction equipment Agricultural machinery Heavy industrial equipment Off-highway vehicles Specialized transportation equipment Experience with the following is especially valuable: Welded fabrication and structural assemblies Machined components and manufacturing processes ASME standards Military specifications and requirements Heavy vehicle systems and components Important Fit Criteria This role is focused on the design of large mechanical structures and heavy equipment systems. Candidates whose experience is primarily centered on automotive styling, Class-A surfacing, trim components, fascia systems, consumer products, or cosmetic injection-molded parts are unlikely to be a strong fit. Current, hands-on Creo experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong proficiency in both 3D modeling and fully associative drawing creation. Why Apply? This is an excellent opportunity to work on highly engineered products in a collaborative environment where your designs directly support the development and production of complex vehicle systems. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to challenging projects while gaining exposure to advanced engineering and manufacturing processes.
