Required Skills & Experience Experience in a startup or fast paced engineering environment (not traditional OEM siloed roles) Minimum 4-5 years engineering experience Strong understanding of physics and first principles engineering Ability to learn quickly and work independently Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar field Nice to Have Skills & Experience Hard trim experience including plastics and injection molding Soft trim experience including carpets, fabrics, headliners, compression molding, or BH CAD experience in Catia or NX Experience with 3DX / 3DExperience Experience with CAE tools or engineering analysis Master's degree in a relevant engineering field Job Description We are building a new interiors engineering group within a fast paced, startup style automotive environment. This team supports multiple vehicle programs and rotates across different interior components every few months. You will work hands on through the full product lifecycle, from requirements and regulations to CAD design, material selection, calculations, prototyping, and supplier engagement. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in changing environments, learns quickly, and wants broad exposure beyond a traditional OEM silo. Support the design and development of automotive interior components, starting with requirements and regulatory standards Apply strong physics and first principles to analyze part behavior and run engineering calculations Create 3D geometry and detailed models in CAD Select materials and complete assessments for manufacturability, performance, and durability Participate in prototype development and hands on validation Collaborate with suppliers, supporting tooling, manufacturing feasibility, and cost evaluations Work across multiple interior systems including both hard trim and soft trim Operate across several disciplines including CAD design, studio collaboration, DRE or DandR engineering, and CAE work Adapt to new component areas every few months as program needs shift
Compensation:
$75/hr to $100/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
