The Beats Accessories Product Design team is seeking a product design engineer to work on the next-generation of products. We work in a highly-collaborative, fast-paced environment with teams across Apple including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Software, and Marketing to define product objectives, design solutions, and validate the performance of those designs through mass production, all while keeping customer experience at the forefront. Our contributions have broad impacts - from the overall system size and shape down to the smallest details.
DescriptionAs a member of our Beats Accessories Product Design team, you would conceive, design, test, solve problems, and bring into production a diverse array of accessory products. We work closely with various multi-functional teams including Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Software, and Marketing. Expertly integrating advanced components into brand new products means every single day is different here! This role may require international travel (~10%).

Responsibilities:
Design mechanical parts including plastic, metal, or softgoods partsInterface with cross functional teams to solicit and understand requirementsCreate 2D technical drawings and review dimensional inspection reportsDo basic mechanical finite element analysisTravel to builds to ensure the product assembly is done correctlyPerform failure analysis on failed units and determine corrective actionsPreferred QualificationsExperience working with overseas manufacturersConsumer electronics design experienceIntegration of wireless antenna (GSM, GPS, Wifi) into mechanical enclosuresExperience with component modules (Audio drivers, batteries, power supplies, camera modules, etc.)MS Mechanical Engineering or equivalentMinimum Qualifications2+ years experience in product design, or equivalentBS Mechanical EngineeringDemonstrated ability in plastic and metal part design3-D CAD skillsExperience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, and geometric tolerancingAnalytical/problem solving skillsSome experience with basic finite element analysis and general mechanical engineering analysisFlexibility and comfort working in a quickly changing environmentAbility to travel internationally (10%+) Pay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.
