Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking a Sr. Product Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design consumer products that meet functional, aesthetic, safety and cost requirements while supporting cross-functional engineering and manufacturing needs. You will contribute technical expertise throughout the product development cycle, including concept creation, prototyping and durability evaluation. You will also collaborate across teams, clearly communicate design intent and work with a range of materials to deliver reliable, high-quality product solutions. Applicants should have a strong understanding of product design principles, including functionality, durability, safety and cost considerations. The ideal candidate also possesses EIT and/or PE certification.

A day on the job looks like this:

Designing consumer products in SolidWorks, ensuring functionality, durability, safety and alignment with cost targetsPartnering with Quality to evaluate testing results, address design risks and ensure solutions meet performance requirementsRepresenting the engineering perspective in product development discussions, applying technical judgment to align designs with project goalsProviding detailed responses to engineering and technical requests from cross-functional partnersBuilding proof-of-concept models and prototypes using in-house 3-D printers and related toolsSharing design concepts and recommendations during product reviews and team discussionsCollaborating across departments to clearly translate technical concepts and support effective teamworkPerforming stress analyses to support durability and performance assessmentQualificationsGot the skills and experience? Here's what we're looking for:
Required:
6+ years of experience in design engineeringBachelor's degree in mechanical engineeringProficiency in 3-D CAD design (SolidWorks), including assemblies and detailed drawingsStrong understanding of product design principles, including functionality, durability, safety and cost considerationsExperience working with a range of materials (e.g., plastics, metals, wood, textiles, foams)Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and production methodsWorking knowledge of 3D modeling techniques for aesthetic and functional parts (Moldflow/FEA)Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing activities (e.g., vendor validation, inspections, assembly support, troubleshooting production issues)
Preferred:
Experience with prototyping toolsEIT and/or PE certificationCSWP (Certified SolidWorks Professional) certificationFamiliarity with structural packaging principles or furniture design

At Lakeshore, we pay local market wages for employees that reside within Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

For this position, new employees joining Lakeshore who live within Los Angeles and Orange Counties are typically brought into the organization at a salary rate between $98,000-$145,000 depending on relevant experience & skillset.

This range is indicative of projected hiring range. The annual base compensation will take into account each candidate's relevant experience, location, and skillset.
