Mechanical Engineer Product Design & Development - Manufacturing

Job Overview We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with strong product development experience to support new product design, engineering, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing launch activities. This role reports directly to the VP of Product Design & Development and works closely with operations, manufacturing, sourcing, and leadership teams. This position is ideal for an engineer who can move seamlessly between CAD design, problem-solving, prototype evaluation, supplier coordination, and real-world product improvement. The engineer will support the development of electro-mechanical products and equipment from concept through production, with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, cost control, and speed to market. This is a highly product-focused role requiring practical engineering judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced development environment. Key Responsibilities Design mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks Create 3D CAD models, production drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation Support the full product development lifecycle from concept through production release Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, sourcing, and operations teams to resolve engineering and production issues Build, test, and evaluate prototypes Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for product failures or field issues Support product validation, reliability testing, and design improvements Assist with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and cost reduction initiatives Coordinate with cross-functional teams including product management, operations, and quality Help manage engineering changes and revision control Support continuous product improvement initiatives Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited U.S. university Minimum of 3 years of mechanical engineering and product development experience Strong SolidWorks design experience Experience designing real-world production products and assemblies Understanding of manufacturing processes including: Sheet metal Plastics Machined parts Welded assemblies Injection molded components Experience creating production drawings and applying GD&T/tolerances Strong mechanical problem-solving skills Ability to work independently while supporting a fast-moving engineering team Strong communication and organizational skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with electro-mechanical products or consumer/commercial equipment Experience with pumps, motors, heaters, fluid systems, vacuums, or small machinery Experience working with overseas manufacturers or suppliers Familiarity with product testing, validation, and troubleshooting Understanding of sourcing, supply chain, and manufacturing support What We're Looking For Practical, hands-on engineer — not purely theoretical Strong attention to detail Comfortable working around prototypes, production equipment, and hands-on testing Ability to balance product performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability Self-starter who can execute quickly and communicate clearly About the Role This role supports a growing product development organization focused on bringing innovative products to market while continuously improving quality, serviceability, and manufacturing efficiency.

Pay:

$90,435.41 - $114,932.98 per year
