Job Description

Special Effects Engineer Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Special Effects Engineer who thrives on turning ambitious creative ideas into practical, camera-ready reality. The Director will provide the concept and creative treatment, and you will engineer the physical setups, rigs, and effects that make those ideas possible.
This role requires a creative problem-solver and builder who can design, fabricate, and execute practical effects while managing the logistics needed to deliver high-impact short-form content. We produce the most viral videos on the internet, regularly hitting 100M views per post! Creative Execution
Design and build practical effects, mechanical rigs, and experimental setups.
Engineer creative solutions to achieve visually striking moments on camera.
Develop prototypes and test builds prior to production.
Ensure all effects are safe, reliable, and camera-ready. Preproduction & Planning
Lead preproduction planning for all effects and technical builds.
Collaborate with the creative team to understand and execute the Director's vision.
Source materials, tools, equipment, and specialty vendors.
Anticipate potential production challenges and engineer solutions early. On-Set Production Management
Oversee setup and execution of effects during filming.
Coordinate with crew and production to ensure smooth operation of builds and rigs.
Troubleshoot technical issues quickly to keep production moving.
Adapt builds in real time when creative or logistical challenges arise. Logistical Coordination
Manage materials, fabrication timelines, and equipment needs.
Ensure builds are completed efficiently and ready for shoot days. Requirements
Experience in special effects, fabrication, mechanical design, or engineering.
Strong hands-on building skills and comfort with tools and materials.
Ability to quickly solve complex creative challenges.
Comfortable executing projects independently. This is an in-office position. Please do not apply if you are looking for remote or hybrid work.
