Job Description

JR286 is seeking a talented Senior Product Designer specializing in high-performance hard goods and soft goods. The ideal candidate is adaptable, driven, and ready to be an integral part of our fast-growing, industry-leading team sports business. This role involves high-level design and execution, athlete insight research, concept generation, close collaboration with the development team, and presentations to internal leadership and Nike executives. The ideal candidate is a conceptual thinker with an advanced understanding of contemporary product creation, industry trends, consumer behavior, and brand storytelling. They are confident collaborating across functions and capable of managing multiple projects from initial concept through final execution. JR286 designers operate in a brand-driven, consumer-focused environment within a marketplace dominated by large multinational sporting goods companies and specialty retailers. What You'll Do:
Responsible for owning their respective categories to design inline hard good and soft good products that balance innovation, function, and aesthetic appeal. This stretches across football/baseball/basketball/golf/training/hydration and new JR286 opportunities. Take initiative. Collaborate with the Sr Design Manager to develop seasonal creative trend strategies that align with brand direction and category story telling to build cohesive product Create original, on-brand product across all product categories needed, with focus on performance sports (football/baseball/basketball/golf/hydration/training) Translate trend research, consumer insights, and brand DNA into compelling product designs and visual narratives Work closely with triad and Sr Design Manager to design, prepare detailed tech packs, specifications, and presentation materials for performance sports Contribute to color, material, and finish (CMF) direction and product storytelling Participate in design reviews and present work to internal stakeholders with clarity and confidence Mentor and provide guidance to junior designers and contractors as needed Collaborate with teammates for color for in depth meetings and training on any cross-functional category initiatives that are essential to the inline and promo categories Partner and maintain regular communication with cross-functional triad members in design, development and product line management (PLM) groups to ensure design commerciality and strict adherence to targeted price points and product creation timelines Must have a proactive, independent decision-making state of mind Be flexible with multiple season deadlines and ability to juggle multiple SKUs Create and coordinate graphic implementation at each stage of the product process (internal and external) with
Sr Design Manager:
Concept Design Review Prototype/sample Review Line Finalization Approval process Attend inline center of excellence (COEs) and promo meetings for assigned categories to understand the inline product that will come into promo (football/baseball/golf/basketball) Attend weekly PLM tracker meetings for football/baseball/golf/basketball and any other categories that apply to their categories Complete and hit all proposed calendar deadlines asked and aligned on my triad Other duties as assigned
What You'll Do:
10+ years related product design/industrial design in the sports industry or similar Degree (BFA/BA/BS) in industrial design, graphic design, or related design education preferred Demonstrate an advanced understanding of storytelling regarding design, project Strong sketching/rendering skills in a mix of mediums including rapid Ideation, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Sketchbook Expert working knowledge of Adobe CS and Microsoft Office programs Extensive knowledge of technical materials, construction methods and manufacturing processes for both hard and soft Can function independently or with other team members in a group setting. Is a positive force for the betterment of all members of the Additional working knowledge of any of the following programs SolidWorks, Rhino, Maya 3D, Fusion 360 software is a plus Capable of operating in a fast paced, dynamic and evolving Detail oriented, self-driven and highly Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy communicating with all teammates Ability to work effectively in a team
