Summary The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, specifically in the Special Event industry, and will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, balancing multiple projects and aggressive deadlines. The candidate should have experience in an office setting and strong on-site experience. In addition, possess the drive to learn and work within a team that identifies, creates, and produces a spectrum of experiential work. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting design and production teams with research, sourcing, identifying potential quality and costing issues, and making recommendations to maintain brand integrity. In addition, this candidate should be prepared to contribute to other departments, and tasks, outside their daily responsibilities, at any given time. Responsibilities Research design and build concepts and visions with a resourceful and creative approach Attend client and vendor meetings, record accurate notes, photos, and measurements that demonstrate spatial acuity, and deliver a clear and concise recap to the team Exhibit an awareness of event details (as they relate to design) - from project inception, through the design process, production, installation, and wrap-up Work on multiple event projects simultaneously, keeping current with details and communicating to all relevant affiliates Keep updated records of pending orders, incoming orders, backorders, and purchase orders Maintain thorough knowledge of warehouse functions, fabrication processes, and inventory Assist in the event-related coordination of the client, venue, and vendor partnerships, as well as internal production staff, as it pertains to technical design Assist in the creation and updating of mood boards, design decks, client deliverables, floor plans, etc. Liaise with design and fabrication teams (floral, décor, carpentry, furniture, and sub-vendor partners) to assist in the generation of design concepts Assist in the management of on-site set-up and break-down of events (as needed) Assist in the collection of final invoices from vendor partners and budget reconciliation following each event Handle material research on projects (as needed) R D on projects/designs prior to flagging for review Manage tech drawings for the Design and Production departments CNC support (as needed) Support the onboarding of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) Continuously research competition in the market for various design and build techniques Assist in research, implementation, and training of new machines/tools Requirements Proficiency and working knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop - Microsoft Office, Google Docs, SketchUp, VCarve, Fusion360, and Vectorworks Strong graphic design skills with an eye for detail and aesthetics. Experience in technical drawing or drafting is preferred. Experience working with florals, fabrication, construction, lighting, textiles, furnishings, décor, and props is preferred Knowledge of color theory and its application in design projects. Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment. Excellent communication skills to convey ideas effectively.
