job summary: Sr. Design Engineer with Automotive powertrain expertise needed for immediate direct hire role in the Augusta, GA area! This is a high priority role seeking a seasoned subject matter expert within automotive powertrain subsystems. Requirements for this role are a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of related experience working with design requirements, risk analysis, DFMEA, DVP&R as well as having a solid understanding of designing to regulatory product standards and Problem-solving techniques such as 8D, 9- step, etc... You'll work on both traditional gas engines and electric vehicle tech. This isn't just a "sit at your desk" job; you'll be leading projects, solving big problems, and helping the whole organization grow. The right person for this role will have a proven passion for the automotive industry as well as the passion to teach and grow the capabilities of the organization. This person will be self-motivated, a proven collaborator, able to think creatively focusing on results. Exceptional communication and team skills are a must for this role. Use structured methodologies (like 8D or 9-step) to solve critical technical issues and serve as the primary engineering contact for customer-facing problems.
Create detailed mechanical specifications and develop rigorous testing plans to ensure every component is durable and high performingLead the documentation process for reliability, including analyzing potential failure points and ensuring all engineering changes are tracked and communicated.
