Job Description

Leads 3D CAD design and development of automotive headlamp systems using Catia, supporting concept-to-production release with focus on manufacturability, assembly, performance, and regulatory compliance. Job Requirements Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience Minimum 10 years of professional CAD design experience in the automotive industry Extensive experience designing automotive headlamps Expert-level Catia experience Experience translating styling surface data and engineering requirements into manufacturable 3D models and detailed 2D drawings Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and design for assembly Knowledge of exterior automotive lighting aesthetic and regulatory requirements Experience creating detailed 2D drawings with GD&T, material specifications, and manufacturing notes Experience managing complex assemblies, including interference checks, clearance analysis, and tolerance stacks Experience maintaining organized CAD models, feature tree structure, parametric associativity, and CAD standards Preferred Skills Experience working with Class A surfaces Experience optimizing designs for cost, weight, performance, and manufacturing processes Experience supporting concept through production release Experience collaborating with styling, optical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams Experience participating in cross-functional product development meetings and design reviews Job Responsibilities Lead the 3D CAD design and modeling of complex automotive headlamp systems and components using Catia from concept through production release Translate styling surfacing data and engineering requirements into robust, manufacturable 3D models and detailed 2D drawings Collaborate with styling, optical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability Develop and maintain organized CAD models with proper feature tree management, parametric associativity, and adherence to CAD standards Perform design reviews, identify potential issues, and develop solutions to improve cost, weight, performance, and manufacturing outcomes Create and manage complex assemblies, including interference checks, clearance analysis, and tolerance stack evaluations Generate detailed 2D drawings with GD&T, material specifications, and manufacturing notes Participate in cross-functional product development meetings and provide CAD support and technical input
