Product Engineer
A/B - NSK

The Product Engineer A/B Role Design and develop steering column assemblies, intermediate shafts and joints to meet customer requirements. Ensure that manufacturability input from supplier and internal processes are considered during the design process. Supports cost containment and reduction initiatives. Supports design issues for customers, internal manufacturing, and suppliers. Fully supports the APQP process. Provides promotional opportunity for personnel who demonstrate competency in the Product Engineer C position. Responsibilities Analyzes design inputs to determine feasibility for indented application. Understands and applies appropriate customer, internal, federal, and industrial standards to designs. Maintains understanding of in-house, supplier, and customer manufacturing processes to ensure design compatibility. Prepares design specifications for each application. Conducts design reviews during product development (customer, internal, supplier). Issues appropriate design documents to support program development (APQP or NPDS) activities. Issues product prints and design changes as appropriate. Coordinates required development, sample builds, and validation testing of designs. Provides design support to customers, suppliers, and in-house departments. Provides VA/VE ideas to support cost targets. Qualifications This job requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 4 to 6 years of position -related experience; preferably 6 to 8 years of position-related experience. This position requires 20% travel.
