Job Description

Lead Product Engineer for P&C Group I, Inc. in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Duties:
lead development of new automotive seating components, sub-assemblies, and systems for global applications; execute and ensure on-time development of reliable prototypes and designs which are feasible to manufacture, including special product characteristics and design, build, and test activities; develop engineering specifications and documentation, including DVP&R's, prototype control plans, key product characteristics, engineering changes, and work orders; perform engineering analyses of tools and processes, tolerance stack-ups, strength calculations, and FEA analysis; liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments through program development phases; ensure compliance with Quality Management procedures, including performing root cause analysis. 20% travel, both domestic and international.
Req's:
Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or foreign equivalent; 5 years of experience in an automotive seating system design position; 5 years of experience with each of the following: complete automotive seating system design and development using CAE (with either LS Dyna or Abaqus), CAD (with CATIA), and data management systems (with Teamcenter), including complete packaging, installation, kinematic and layout studies of complex mechanisms, and component-level testing and validation; reduce seating structure mass and costs through developing methods of utilizing common features across seat variants and performing root cause analysis of product issues and confirmation through physical testing; support supplier management, production launch, and development through APQP phases and post-launch service operations for automotive seating & interior systems including change management throughout the design and release process; develop virtual manufacturing operations plans and performing product database management for automotive seating systems; design and develop sheet metal stamping and injection molding processes, as well as plastic and cable components for automotive seating & interior systems, including sheet metal and plastic tooling considerations.
