Our mission is to protect healthcare professionals from occupational radiation exposure while enabling the delivery of exceptional patient care. We are a rapidly growing Class 1 medical device manufacturing company based in Roseville, Minnesota. Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior or Principal R D Engineer to play a key role in the design, development and manufacturing of our next-generation radiation protection products - from concept through commercial launch. Our R D team transforms ideas quickly into commercially successful products through rapid innovation and close collaboration with clinical stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end design and development of new Class I medical devices and products from concept through commercial launch. Drive ideation, concept generation, rapid prototyping, and feasibility studies to evaluate new product opportunities. Translate customer, clinical, and market needs into innovative product solutions and engineering requirements. Develop and execute engineering strategies that support product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and scalability. Create and maintain product architectures, detailed designs, and technical specifications that balance performance, usability, manufacturability, and cost to meet quality requirements. Conduct hands-on design, testing, and iterative product refinement based on user feedback and performance data. Lead design reviews and technical decision-making throughout the development process. Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful product commercialization. Support Voice-of-Customer activities, user evaluations, and customer visits to identify unmet needs and validate design concepts. Develop and execute verification and validation plans to ensure product performance and regulatory compliance. Serve as a technical mentor and thought leader within the engineering organization. Contribute to intellectual property generation through invention disclosures and patent development. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related technical field. 7+ years of product design and development experience. Proven experience leading products from concept through manufacturing to successful commercial launch. Strong background in new product development, design engineering, and product innovation. Experience working in medical devices, healthcare products, or other regulated product development environments. Strong understanding of design controls, risk management, and product development best practices. Proficiency with CAD tools (preferably SolidWorks), prototyping methods, and engineering analysis techniques. Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities. Compensation & Benefits Full-time, direct hire position with a broad starting salary range to be determined by years and level of experience for a Senior or Principal R D Engineer Base salary estimated to start between $120,000 - $160,000, depending on experience. Additional bonus/incentive compensation available. Company laptop provided. Insurance available on the 1st of the month following date of hire, including: health, dental and vision insurance, plus pre-tax or Roth 401k available after 30 days.
