9/80, (Mon-Fri) Associate Degree in Engineering Sciences Active DoD Secret Clearance Job Description The Senior Mechanical Designer is responsible for supporting engineering, product development, and manufacturing activities through the design, analysis, documentation, and release of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. This role develops product definitions, performs design studies, manages engineering changes, and supports prototype and production hardware while collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, and program teams. The position also provides technical leadership and guidance to Designers, Drafters, and Checkers throughout the product development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical and electro-mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD tools. Support product development from concept through production release. Perform design trade studies, volume packaging analyses, and tolerance stack-up evaluations. Create, release, and maintain engineering models, drawings, and product definition data. Ensure design requirements and specifications are met throughout the product lifecycle. Support prototype hardware fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting activities. Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and program teams to resolve technical issues. Perform Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), configuration changes, and documentation updates. Maintain engineering records, files, and product configuration data. Delegate and oversee tasks assigned to Designers, Drafters, and Checkers. Support manufacturing and production activities to ensure efficient fabrication and assembly. Work within secure program environments and support classified projects as required. Required Qualifications Associate Degree in Engineering Sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10+ years of experience in Mechanical Design/Drafting with at least 3 years in a senior-level role. Experience supporting the full design lifecycle, including conceptual design, detailed design, manufacturing, and procurement support. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and fabrication methods for mechanical assemblies. Proficiency with PTC Creo Parametric and product data/file management systems. Strong knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5). Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Active DoD Security Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with PTC Creo Parametric 7.0+ and Windchill PDMLink 11.0+. Experience with ASME Y14.5-2009, Military Standards, and ASME standards. Experience with Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE PLM. Electro-mechanical packaging experience. Experience leading small design teams and coordinating across multiple functional organizations. Strong background in product configuration management and engineering change control. Education & Experience Associate Degree in Engineering Sciences or equivalent work experience.
