Job Description

Visiontron, a family-owned, Hauppauge-based manufacturing company, is hiring for a Product Design Engineer to assist in various areas of our Product Design, Manufacturing, and Engineering efforts. During our over 60 years here on Long Island, we have become a leading manufacturer of consumer guidance products, and we'd love to add a resourceful and enthusiastic individual to our team who is looking to grow with us.
What We're Looking For In You:
Experience in following a product from concept to completion Interest or experience in designing and working with a variety of materials and processes such as aluminum extrusions, plastic injection molded components, metal fabrication such as welding, machining, stamping, rubber molded components, zinc die cast components, and brass die cast components. Collaborative individual who can work with production staff to work out details of designs within our facilities capabilities including CNC milling, CNC plasma and Routing tables, Welding, Sheet metal bending and design as well as various other fabrication methods. Enthusiastic individual who is willing to tackle any technical task within production and design.
Job Responsibilities:
Independently develop new products, processes, and quality procedures. Update existing designs for improvement or clarity of old documentation (Drawings, BOM's, QC standards etc.). Design 3D models and production ready drawings utilizing Solidworks. Create Bill of Material records for new or existing products utilizing Microsoft Excel. Investigate product performance issues and new product designs with documented experiments and tests. Update documentation for Engineering Change Orders as required. Populate product specification spreadsheets for customers utilizing Microsoft Excel. Conduct and document time study analysis for accurate costing and process improvements.
Qualifications:
3-7 years of experience of proven success in technical field of design or manufacturing. Familiar with designing parts for castings, extrusions, stamping, machining, welding, and injection molding preferred. Familiar with drawing standards for manufacturability. Strong computer skills including Solidworks & all Microsoft Suite products required. Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or other technical field. Balance of how to design for manufacturability while also considering cost, durability, and aesthetics. Excellent organizational skills, project management skills, interpersonal skills and analytical skills.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
