Job Description

Design Systems Designer - Hybrid in Atlanta Overview This role focuses on delivering high-quality, production-ready digital design solutions with a strong emphasis on design systems, UI execution, and accessibility. The Product Designer will translate defined product requirements and user insights into scalable interaction designs, reusable UI components, and developer-ready specifications across mobile and web platforms. This position is embedded within agile product squads and partners closely with product, engineering, research, and brand stakeholders to drive clarity, consistency, and speed of delivery. The role is execution-heavy and ideal for a designer who thrives in structured design systems, enjoys building and extending component libraries, and can operate autonomously while collaborating in a fast-moving, feedback-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Support the rollout of new digital refresh initiatives while helping define and maintain scalable frameworks for future refreshes Produce wireframes, interaction flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs that are ready for engineering implementation Apply and extend established enterprise design systems to ensure consistency, scalability, and brand alignment Build, customize, and maintain Figma components, variants, and documentation within shared libraries Translate product requirements, business needs, and research insights into clear, testable design solutions Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure feasibility, accuracy, and high-quality design handoffs Iterate quickly based on stakeholder, user, and engineering feedback Ensure accessibility, usability, color contrast, and inclusive design standards are met Partner with designers across teams to ensure new components integrate seamlessly into existing experiences Connect work across overlapping initiatives to reduce duplication and create cohesive end-to-end user journeys Clearly articulate design rationale and decisions in working sessions and reviews Qualifications 3+ years of hands-on product design experience in agile delivery environments Demonstrated experience working within established enterprise design systems Strong applied understanding of design thinking principles, including iterative testing and refinement Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, auto layout, variants, and library management Experience preparing detailed design specifications and managing design-to-development handoffs Ability to operate independently with minimal oversight in an embedded delivery model Core Skills UI execution and interaction design Design systems application and local library development Prototyping and iterative testing Accessibility and inclusive design practices Component and pattern library management Agile collaboration within cross-functional pods Requirements translation and detail-oriented production design Additional Skills & Nice-to-Haves Strong typography fundamentals and typographic hierarchy Experience designing for content-heavy, compliance-driven interfaces Strong understanding of color, contrast, and theming systems Background in agency, startup, or small-team environments Portfolio Expectations Demonstrated strength in UI design and design systems work Clear understanding of design thinking and human-centered design, including collaboration with user research Examples showing attention to typography, layout, accessibility, and visual hierarchy Experience working with established systems while extending or customizing components for new use cases Ability to show how feedback from partners and leadership influenced design decisions Soft Skills & Collaboration Highly collaborative and comfortable working directly with product and engineering partners Open to feedback and able to incorporate changes quickly without taking feedback personally Experience working within a pod or squad model Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn and grow Work Environment Hybrid work model with an expectation of in-office collaboration three days per week This role requires alignment with partners who operate primarily from an Atlanta-based office Why This Role This is a unique opportunity to contribute to high-visibility digital refresh initiatives and help shape scalable design foundations used across future launches. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
