Our precision-engineered training solutions are used by military forces, law enforcement agencies, and security professionals worldwide, enabling operators to train in the most realistic and safe environment possible. About the Role UTM is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in mechanical product design utilizing plastic and metal components. In this role, you will drive product realization from initial concept through production tooling, collaborating closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to bring innovative designs to life. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with customers and account managers to develop initial product concepts Design finished electro-mechanical assemblies comprised of plastic molded parts, sheet metal parts, metal stampings, and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) Work directly with tooling vendors to ensure high-quality manufacturing outcomes Partner with clients and internal departments to establish rigorous product quality specifications Provide technical support to the manufacturing department throughout the production process Actively participate in team-driven continuous improvement initiatives Requirements B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience 3-5 years of experience in product design; background in plastics and metal stamping preferred Advanced to expert proficiency in Autodesk Inventor Proven experience working with large tool assembly models Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across various stages of development Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and collaboration skills Self-motivated and independent, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Working knowledge of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and MRP systems a plus Why Join UTM?
