See how your contributions will help transform vision into reality: As an Engineering Technician on Mercury Marine's Product Development team, you will focus on new product marine design, specializing in the design and development of Outboard Gear Drives (lower units) for marine applications ranging from 30 to 600 horsepower. Perform assembly and disassembly of mechanical gear transmissions, including spiral & straight bevel and parallel axis gears. Perform routine engineering work requiring the application of standard techniques and procedures. Create and assist with the development of product specifications and test requirements for gearcase components and system assemblies. Participate in the development process by testing prototypes and analyzing failures. Provide test results to the requestor in a clear, concise, written format including photographs. Build or specify requirements for test fixtures and specialized assembly tools required to meet individual project needs. Analyze product issues associated with production and warranty. Complete competitive benchmarking. Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way. Associates degree with emphasis in mechanical design or technology. 3 years of experience in fabrication and test of mechanical systems in an R D lab environment. Ability to read engineering drawings. Knowledge of, and the ability to use, various computer software programs including Microsoft Office. Ability to apply sound engineering principles in problem solving. General knowledge of production methods and process requirements as they relate to typical marine drive component manufacturing. Familiar with gear terminology. Knowledge of the design, manufacture, and inspection of involute splines. Familiar with transmission design and mechanical / hydraulic clutch design. Familiar with data acquisition hardware and software. The anticipated pay range for this position is $47,000
The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus program. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role.
