Job Description

A Brief Overview The Floor Covering Designer utilizes extensive product knowledge to provide excellent customer service throughout the floor covering sales process. This position assists with product selection, material ordering, cost estimates, and project schedules. What you will do Solicit new accounts, conducts job site visits, and prospects for new projects. Assist customers by recommending products based on customers' needs and interests. Answer customers' questions about products, prices, availability, product uses, and credit terms. Conduct pre-construction site inspections and measurements. Prepare drawings, estimates, and bids that meet specific customer needs. Estimate or quote prices, credit or contract terms, warranties, and delivery dates. Order project materials in conjunction with branch personnel. Arrange project schedules, sub-contractor schedules and material deliveries. Act as the liaison between the customer, materials vendors, and subcontractors. Work with other branch personnel to ensure great customer service from the order to the delivery and beyond. Consult with clients after sales or contract signings to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support. Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements, to promote the sale of company products, and to provide sales support. Develop and maintain relationships with an assigned customer base, including key accounts, always ensuring their satisfaction with our products and services. Continually enhance sales skills and product knowledge in order to promote a professional image in the field. Maintain current knowledge of daily and monthly sales and their relationship to margin goals. Understand all aspects of customer billing cycle, cash vs. credit, and how to figure and process a deposit by having a thorough knowledge of the paperwork flow and distribution process Maintain extensive product knowledge including differences in flooring lines, pricing multipliers, lead times, and warranty policies. Must posses the necessary knowledge to be able to explain the differences in flooring lines to customers Maintain an active file of new and existing customers. Ensure all vendor literature is maintained and presented or stored in a clean, neat fashion Assist in maintaining a clean, neat, professional looking show room. Participate in annual inventory. Required For All Jobs Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. Adheres to Company's commitment to workplace safety. Education Qualifications Interior Design and/or Sales Training preferred. Experience Qualifications 1-3 years of experience in floor covering industry preferred. Skills and Abilities Experience with order entry of industry related software, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Special skills required•salesmanship, good verbal communication skills and design presentation skills. Special knowledge required•Knowledge of flooring design, general knowledge in all aspects of design and installation of flooring materials. Licenses and Certifications
