Job Description
Pre-Construction Lead Position Summary The Lead Design Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for homeowners after a project estimate has been approved. This role blends client service, residential design, project coordination, and administrative oversight to guide clients through the selection and design process while ensuring all decisions are clearly documented and communicated to the project team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, design-oriented, detail-driven, and skilled at helping homeowners make confident decisions while keeping projects moving forward on schedule. Key ResponsibilitiesClient Onboarding & Relationship Management Serve as the primary design and selections contact for homeowners after contract approval. Conduct welcome calls to introduce the design process and establish expectations. Send onboarding communications, including design questionnaires and project information. Build strong client relationships through proactive communication and exceptional service. Maintain regular contact with clients throughout the design and selections phase. Design Coordination & Decision Management Create and maintain a comprehensive project Field Sheet (Decision Tracker) based on the approved estimate. Identify and organize all required homeowner selections, including cabinetry, countertops, fixtures, hardware, tile, lighting, plumbing fixtures, paint colors, and other finish materials. Categorize decisions by trade (plumbing, electrical, tile, cabinetry, etc.) for easy reference by project teams. Track selection progress and ensure decisions are made according to project timelines. Document all client decisions, notes, and revisions throughout the project lifecycle. Client Design Guidance Assist homeowners in making informed design and product selections. Answer questions regarding products, materials, layouts, finishes, and functionality. Schedule and conduct in-person and virtual design meetings. Create and present visual aids, mood boards, renderings, and design concepts to support decision-making. Provide professional recommendations while balancing client preferences, budget, and project requirements. Proactively follow up on outstanding decisions that may impact scheduling or construction progress. Design Development & Technical Drawings Create floor plans, elevations, layouts, and renderings using 2020 Design or similar design software. Produce clear and accurate design documentation for both clients and construction teams. Update drawings and layouts as project changes occur. Ensure all design documents are organized, labeled, and maintained according to company standards. Verify design accuracy prior to project handoff. Change Order Management Prepare and manage change orders related to client selections and design revisions. Accurately document product specifications, scope changes, and associated cost adjustments. Coordinate digital signatures through JobTread or company-approved systems. Ensure all approved selections are properly documented before materials are ordered or work begins. Maintain organized records of all change order activity. Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination Obtain pricing and product information from subcontractors and suppliers. Coordinate quotes necessary to support design decisions and change orders. Verify pricing accuracy before presenting options to homeowners. Communicate timeline expectations and material requirements with trade partners. Maintain strong working relationships with preferred subcontractors and vendors. Project Handoff & Documentation Coordinate the transition from Design & Selections to Project Management. Verify that all client decisions have been finalized and documented.

Ensure the project is fully prepared for construction execution. QualificationsRequired Experience in residential remodeling, interior design, kitchen and bath design, or construction coordination. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cloud-based collaboration tools. Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy. Preferred Experience using 2020 Design or similar design software. Experience with JobTread or construction management software. Kitchen and bath design experience. Knowledge of residential construction methods and materials. Experience working directly with homeowners and subcontractors. Pay:
$65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
