Job Description
About Us At Cohesively Curated Interiors, we create refined, highly personalized homes that reflect the way our clients live. Our work is rooted in thoughtful design, strong relationships, and a seamless client experience from concept through installation. As our firm continues to grow, we are looking for a highly skilled Technical Interior Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who loves the technical side of design: construction details, drawings, space planning, contractor coordination, project execution, and solving the real-life challenges that happen between final design approval and installation. This is not a purely aesthetic or styling-focused role. We are looking for someone who enjoys bringing the design vision to life through technical expertise, organization, communication, and strong follow-through. Job Description The Technical Interior Designer will work closely with the Principal Designer and design team to support residential interior design projects from design development through construction and installation. This person will be responsible for creating and managing technical documentation, coordinating with contractors and trades, overseeing construction-related details, managing punch lists, and helping ensure each project is executed beautifully and accurately. The right candidate has a strong construction background, excellent drafting and space planning skills, and the confidence to communicate clearly with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal team members. They should be polished, detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable representing the company in client- and contractor-facing situations. Key Responsibilities Develop and revise technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, construction details, millwork details, reflected ceiling plans, finish plans, and related design documentation. Lead and support kitchen, bath, and full home interior space planning with a strong understanding of function, flow, construction constraints, custom cabinetry, and design intent. Coordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, trades, vendors, and suppliers to ensure the design is executed as intended. Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors, subcontractors, cabinet makers, and vendors on assigned projects. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects. Anticipate and proactively solve project challenges before they escalate Attend and lead contractor meetings, site visits, walk-throughs, construction coordination meetings, and key project milestones as needed. Answer contractor and trade questions throughout the project, escalating to the Principal Designer when needed. Manage technical project details after final design approval, helping carry projects through construction and installation. Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with the design vision. Support project timelines, deliverables, client communication, and internal coordination to keep projects moving smoothly. Manage punch lists, follow up on outstanding items, and ensure issues are resolved thoroughly and professionally. Maintain organized project documentation, including meeting notes, drawings, schedules, client communications, and contractor updates. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a closely related field required. 5-8+ years of experience in residential interior design, interior architecture, architecture, construction documentation, or a closely related environment. Strong construction knowledge and a clear understanding of how residential projects are built. Proficiency in drafting and technical documentation using AutoCAD, Chief Architect, SketchUp, or comparable design software. Experience creating and reviewing detailed technical drawings, including floor plans, elevations, construction drawings, millwork details, finish plans, and related documentation. Experience working directly with custom cabinetry, millwork, tile layouts, plumbing fixture specification and layouts, lighting plans, and finish specifications. Strong kitchen, bath and full home space planning experience preferred. Experience coordinating with contractors, architects, engineers, trades, vendors, and clients. Comfortable leading site meetings, answering technical questions, and representing the company professionally. Excellent project management, organization, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple active projects, timelines, and priorities. Highly detail-oriented with a strong eye for accuracy, proportion, function, finish quality, and problem-solving. Ability to collaborate well with a creative design team while independently owning the technical and construction-related side of projects. Familiarity with high-end residential design projects. Must be proactive, polished, and able to follow through without constant oversight. Must have a reliable car and live in the Greater Seattle area. Nice-to-Have Experience Interior architecture or architecture background. Experience preparing permit drawings or coordinating permit submissions. Rendering experience. Experience with Programa, Canva, Google Workspace, or similar tools. Attributes Technically minded, highly detail-oriented, and confident working with contractors. Polished, professional, and comfortable communicating with clients and trades. Collaborative, kind, organized, and proactive. Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving skills and good judgment. Comfortable taking ownership of construction-phase details. Someone who enjoys the "how it gets built" side of design as much as the finished result. Team-first and solutions-oriented, with the confidence to lead when needed and the humility to jump in wherever the project requires — whether that's coordinating with contractors, picking up samples, supporting an install, or helping solve the unglamorous details that make a project successful. Benefits Competitive salary, commensurate with experience. Health insurance stipend and mileage reimbursement. Opportunities for professional development and growth. Hybrid work schedule, with the ability to work from home when not attending in-person meetings, site visits, or installations. How to Apply Interested candidates should submit their resume, portfolio, and a brief cover letter to hello@cohesivelycurated.com .
