SNAPSHOT
At Crescent Builds, design isn't an afterthought - it's where every project begins. As our Residential Interior Designer, you'll be the creative and technical lead who turns a client's vision into a buildable reality. From the first schematic to the final finish selection, you're the one holding both the big picture and the fine details and making sure they line up. You'll work alongside our Project Managers and Client Relations team through pre-construction and into production, keeping the design grounded in budget and scope while never losing sight of what makes a space genuinely beautiful and livable.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Pre-Construction Develop full design packages for residential remodel and addition projects — as-builts, schematic designs, floor plans, elevations, electrical and mechanical plans, window and door schedules, and SD-CD sets Coordinate with architects and engineers to produce structural drawings required for permitting Manage permit submittals and applications with local municipalities Guide clients through the interior selections process: cabinetry layouts, finish options, material sourcing, and physical samples Document all finish selections in JobTread Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure design intent is accurately scoped and priced in project proposals Contribute to pre-construction and design schedules — setting realistic expectations with clients at every stage Construction Support Stay in regular communication with clients to confirm design alignment and address field questions Relay design updates to the production team, trade contractors, architects, and suppliers Confirm material take-offs with Project Leads on site Order and quality-check finish materials in accordance with project schedules Make site visits to verify that design and material selections are being executed correctly Design Team Support Research and sample new finish materials; maintain the internal sample library Build and manage vendor relationships Coordinate professional photoshoots of completed projects Source project imagery for social media Keep client files organized and current
A DAY IN THE LIFE
Meeting with a client to review schematic design options Order materials for a production project Reviewing an issue with finish material layout for production project Work on schematic design set in CAD Checking ETA of finish items ordered Attend internal status meetings to review project process and milestones
EXPERIENCE
3+ years of professional experience in interior design or a related construction field Bachelor's degree in interior design or equivalent (or 4+ years of applied experience) Bachelor's degree in interior design or equivalent (or 4+ years of applied experience) Proficiency in AutoCAD; Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite are a plus Solid understanding of residential construction documentation — you can read a full CD set Experience taking projects through permitting Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple active projects without dropping details Comfortable with client-facing communication and vendor relationships Basic photography skills Proficiency in MS Teams and MS Office; PC-comfortable Valid driver's license, clean record, and full insurance coverage Ability to be on site: lifting and maneuvering up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods
