Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Bring your expertise in sign language interpretation to support student success in a dynamic educational setting near Fort Smith, AR! Two contract opportunities are available for skilled interpreters passionate about facilitating accessible communication for middle school students. These full-time positions offer the chance to collaborate closely with educators, enhance student engagement, and make a lasting difference throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
Current state interpreter license required Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments Ability to provide clear, accurate, age-appropriate interpretation in classroom and school settings Strong interpersonal and communication skills Bilingual proficiency (ASL and another language) preferred for one of the openings Reliable and punctual, able to be present all school day
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated 1:1 sign language interpretation for a middle school student across all academic and school-related activities Support and facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers Adapt interpreting style to fit various educational settings, including classroom instruction, group projects, and school events Collaborate with educational staff to promote inclusion and accessibility Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
