Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Embrace the rewarding opportunity to support students as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational environment! This full-time contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in a middle school setting, providing one-on-one support to a student who relies on sign language for communication throughout the school day. The assignment spans the academic year, ensuring consistent engagement and the opportunity to build a strong professional relationship.
What You'll Need:
Valid state Interpreter License Expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) and experience in educational settings Previous work as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools is highly desired Ability to commit to a full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week), present onsite each school day Bilingual skills strongly preferred for one of the positions Strong interpersonal abilities and a passion for fostering student inclusion Prompt start and consistent attendance from August 2024 through May 2027
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver one-on-one sign language interpretation to a designated middle school student across classroom activities, school events, and other educational settings Collaborate closely with teaching staff to ensure accessible learning opportunities Adapt interpreting methods to match the student's individual needs Support the student's academic participation and social integration Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school protocols at all times
