Job Description
Category Schools - Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist Job Type Contract Empower students with hearing differences to excel and thrive! A part-time opportunity is available for a dedicated professional to provide specialized support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across multiple school sites. As an itinerant teacher, you'll collaborate closely with a full-time counterpart, sharing a diverse caseload and working together to deliver outstanding services tailored to each student's unique needs. In this contract role, your expertise will help ensure educational programs and accommodations are effectively implemented, while building lasting connections with students, families, and staff. This position averages around 20 hours per week, allowing you to make a significant impact while enjoying flexibility in your schedule.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or eligibility for state licensure Experience working with K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used by D/HH students Understanding of IEP development and progress monitoring for special education Strong consultation, collaboration, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently across multiple sitesKey Responsibilities:
Deliver direct and consultative services to students with hearing loss Share caseloads and coordinate schedules with an on-site full-time DHH teacher Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs to ensure educational needs are met Write progress reports and maintain accurate documentation Provide guidance, training, and resource recommendations to school staff and families Customize lesson plans and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs Be the advocate and mentor these students need to reach their fullest potential!
