Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication and education for hard of hearing and deaf students in an elementary and intermediate school environment in Oroville, CA. This contract position requires a compassionate professional capable of bridging communication between students, their hearing peers, classroom teachers, and school personnel to foster an inclusive learning atmosphere.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting services during classroom instruction and activities Assisting students with academic subjects such as reading, writing, and math Supporting students in developing vocational and living skills Supervising students during classroom, outdoor, and community activities
Qualifications:
Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or a score of 4.0 or higher on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or
NAD/ACCI
assessment is preferred Candidates with an EIPA score under 4.0 may be considered and referred as ASL Para professionals Fluency in American Sign Language with an Associate's degree (AA) is also acceptable
Position Details:
Start date: Immediate availability through May 28, 2026
