Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference this school year as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter supporting a 4th grade student in a general education classroom. This contract position offers 30 hours per week, working a consistent schedule of 7:50 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. You'll play a vital role in facilitating communication, helping to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for your student.
Key Qualifications:
EIPA 4.0
certification preferred, or deep fluency as an ASL paraeducator Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter within school settings is highly desired Ability to provide clear, accurate interpretation in both instructional and peer-to-peer contexts Strong commitment to uplifting and empowering students with communication differences Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach with educators and staff
Responsibilities:
Offer 1:1 sign language interpretation for a 4th grade student in a general education classroom, ensuring full access to instruction and classroom activities Adapt interpreting techniques and approaches as needed, in response to the student's language development and social needs Foster a positive, encouraging partnership with the student, advocating for their participation and engagement Maintain ethical standards of confidentiality and impartiality in all interactions Communicate effectively with teachers, educational teams, and support staff to promote the student's academic and social success This is a rewarding opportunity to use your expertise in sign language to enhance one student's educational journey.
