Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities are available for skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support students in general education classrooms for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position, located near Stockton, CA, offers a fulfilling experience working closely with students who are eager to learn and thrive in a supportive environment. Five interpreters are needed for this role, providing dedicated 1:1 assistance and campus-wide support.
Responsibilities include:
Providing real-time American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students in general education settings Supporting individual students on a 1:1 basis, ensuring complete accessibility to classroom instruction, discussions, and activities Collaborating with educators and staff to facilitate clear communication and inclusive education Assisting throughout the school campus as needed, helping maintain a seamless learning environment Adhering to the assigned schedule, working 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 7:40 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Contributing to the educational and social development of students by fostering communication between peers and staff Required qualifications: Minimum 4.0 EIPA score for SLIs Strong proficiency in American Sign Language Experience working in school settings or with children highly preferred ASL paraprofessionals currently working towards interpreter certification are also encouraged to apply Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in dynamic classroom environments Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team This role is ideal for individuals seeking to make a meaningful impact within inclusive education.
