They also provide interpretation for meetings when needed to assist with family understanding. The Interpreter/Translator will also provide translation of clinical reports when needed, as well as providing interpretation support in clinical meetings, such as family conferences related to a diagnostic evaluation. They support the coordinator in scheduling home visits, translating the individualized family service plans, and assist the family in obtaining necessary services and supports. This position coordinates supports for families utilizing a variety of community resources and programs. They also assist the family through advocacy or mediation in getting what they need from various community providers (i.e., Denver Public Schools). Essential Duties Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak the same language by converting one spoken or written language into another (English to Spanish) Assists in scheduling Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP) meetings, interpreting during the meeting and translating the IFSP document Attends clinical diagnostic evaluations and provider interpretation of testing and caregiver interview Translates clinical reports into Spanish as needed Translates department brochures or marketing materials into Spanish as needed Edit and proofread text accurately to reflect Spanish translation Receive and submit documents electronically Assists Rocky Mountain Human Services in the implementation of agency goals and objectives according to the mission and values of this agency Develops and maintains productive and supportive relationships with the families, service agencies, and others involved with the person, as may be appropriate Participates in meetings and does any necessary follow-up to department agency assignments Completes paperwork to insure continued eligibility for Target Case Management (TCM) services as applicable Performs all job duties to established department standards related to quantity of work while ensuring high quality services and supports are provided to children and families. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbally Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Ability to analyze information and use sound judgement when making recommendations or solving problems. Ability to drive personal or company vehicle Minimum Qualifications Experience in interpreting in educational and/or medical environments Experience translating documents from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish Ability to read, write and speak English fluently Ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently Must have valid driver's license and insurance Preferred Qualifications Experience translating/interpreting medical terminology Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field 2 years case management experience working with people with developmental disabilities and their families Certification in translation/interpretation (ex. Bridging the Gap or American Translators Association) Driving Requirements Valid drivers license Proof of motor vehicle insurance Personal vehicle in good operating condition for use during work No major violations in the past three years.
