Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your expertise in sign language interpretation to an engaging educational setting in the Clermont, FL area! This contract opportunity seeks skilled professionals for on-site roles supporting students and school communities with interpreter/translator services for the Deaf, starting August 10, 2026, through May 28, 2027. You'll work a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, fully immersed in the dynamic environment of local educational campuses. With the district's budget expected to be finalized on June 8, candidates have a strong chance of interviewing as early as next week—launching your next assignment on a high note.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or Interpreting National Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), such as NIC, or from the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) Strong proficiency in American Sign Language and English Ability to work collaboratively with students, educators, and other staff Professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to confidentiality
Key Responsibilities:
Provide accurate, real-time sign language interpretation in classroom and campus settings Facilitate effective communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and the school community Adapt interpretation to meet diverse age groups and varying educational needs Support accessibility for events, meetings, and other school activities as needed Candidates will complete a two-part onboarding process directly with the district, receiving a badge upon completion. All documentation and timesheets will be managed according to district procedure for streamlined weekly approval.
