Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Sign Language Interpreter, supporting students in K-8 Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) classrooms across several school sites in the Jupiter, FL area. You'll serve as a vital communication link, empowering students to thrive in inclusive educational environments. This on-site only role spans multiple locations, offering full-time hours and the chance to make a meaningful impact in students' lives for the 2026-2027 school year.
Qualifications and Experience:
Level 3 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA 3.6-3.9, or higher) OR current certification through the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) or Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) - National Interpreter Certification (CI/CT, CSC, NIC, NIC-A, NIC-M) Previous experience interpreting in K-8 educational settings highly preferred Ability to submit an unedited, cold interpreting sample (instructions will be provided) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Willingness to complete time-sensitive fingerprinting and credentialing requirements per state guidelines
Responsibilities:
Provide live sign language interpretation for DHH students in classroom and school settings Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment by facilitating effective communication between students, staff, and peers Adapt interpreting style to meet the needs of diverse age groups (K-8) Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards Travel to assigned school site(s) within the district as scheduled Offering a dynamic, engaging work environment for interpreters who are passionate about educational equity.
