Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make an impact supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic K-8 school environment. This full-time contract opportunity offers multiple assignments across West Palm Beach, Florida, with positions available at several school sites. Preferred background and credentials:
Valid certification: EIPA Level 3.6 or higher, or qualification through NAD or RID (CI/CT, CSC, NIC, NIC-A, NIC-M). Demonstrated experience interpreting in classroom settings, ideally with K-8 students. Ability to submit a cold interpreting sample, following specific guidelines (details provided upon selection). Adaptability to work at different school sites as needed. Strong communication skills and professional conduct with staff and students. Willingness to complete Florida fingerprinting and secure JLA badge clearance.
Key responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction and school activities for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students. Facilitate effective communication between students and teachers throughout the school day. Support student participation and advocacy in both academic and extracurricular environments. Collaborate closely with educators and school support teams to meet each student's IEP needs. Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards pertaining to student information. Adhere to school protocol and best practices for educational sign language services. This position is on-site only, supporting one assigned school site (Palm Springs MS, DD Eisenhower, Coral Reef ES, or Western Pines MS) with full-day schedules. Assignments may adjust based on district needs, providing you with valuable exposure to varied educational settings.
