Key Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language (ASL), Interpreting, or a closely related field. National certification such as the NIC (National Interpreter Certification) through RID or credentials from the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI). Previous experience working in educational settings or with student populations is a plus. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, staff, and families. Commitment to ongoing professional development and meeting district onboarding requirements.
Responsibilities and Role Highlights:
Provide clear and accurate interpretation/transliteration for students in classrooms and throughout the school day. Foster access, engagement, and participation for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students in all academic and extracurricular activities. Collaborate with educational teams to ensure student needs and accommodations are met. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adhere to all school guidelines. Complete district-specific onboarding and compliance documentation before the start date.
