Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in a dynamic school environment near Winter Garden, FL. This full-time, on-site position is set to begin on August 10, 2026, and will continue through May 28, 2027. With the school year fast approaching and district budget approval anticipated by June 8, there is a strong likelihood of interviews happening as early as next week. Multiple interpreter roles are available, offering a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the education of deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Desired Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or Interpreting. National certification, such as NIC from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or credentials from the Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI). Experience providing interpretation services within educational settings preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills. Ability to meet time-sensitive credentialing and onboarding requirements.
Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into sign language for students, staff, and faculty, ensuring full accessibility. Facilitate communication in classroom, small group, and individual settings across one or more schools (assignments to be determined). Support students of varying age groups, contributing to an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere. Participate in ongoing district-specific onboarding and compliance processes. Manage time effectively within a standard school schedule (8-hour days, 37.5 hours per week).
