Job Description
Category Schools - Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact this upcoming school year by providing essential communication support to high school students. As a full-time Sign Language Interpreter, you'll work directly with 1-2 students, ensuring they have access to a rich and inclusive educational experience throughout the 26/27 academic year. Key Qualifications and Skills:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Experience interpreting in educational environments, especially with high school students Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to facilitate effective communication between students, educators, and peers Familiarity with IEP processes and accommodations related to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students a plus Relevant certification or credentials in sign language interpreting Adaptability, professionalism, and a student-centered mindsetCore Responsibilities:
Provide real-time, in-person sign language interpreting services for 1-2 high school students during classroom instruction and school activities Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to foster students' participation and engagement Adapt interpreting techniques to various classroom settings and communication needs Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all student interactions Support students in developing self-advocacy and independence as appropriatePerks and Benefits:
