Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students and educators as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school-based setting. In this contract role, you'll facilitate communication, promote inclusivity, and help ensure all students have equal access to learning opportunities. If you're skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) and passionate about making a difference in educational environments, this could be the perfect match for your expertise.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with strong receptive and expressive skills Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in schools, is valued Ability to interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and other school-related communication accurately Certification or state credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (where applicable) Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities Flexible, adaptive, and able to work confidently with a range of age groups and learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) during classroom lessons, assemblies, meetings, and school events Support the communication access of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and other professionals to support students' success Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions Foster an inclusive, respectful environment for all students
