Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A school district in Jonesboro, GA is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for the 2025-2026 school year. This on-site contract position offers a 35-hour workweek supporting an elementary caseload with a mix of one-on-one and small group interpreting assignments. This role is an excellent opportunity for a professional passionate about fostering communication and accessibility in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide effective American Sign Language interpretation for students in elementary classrooms Support both individual students and small groups to facilitate communication with teachers and peers Collaborate with educators to ensure smooth communication and accessibility during lessons and activities Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in interpreting Participate in relevant training and meetings to stay current with interpreting practices and student needs
Qualifications and Experience:
EIPA score of 3.5 or higher is required Experience interpreting in an educational setting, preferably with elementary-aged students Proficiency in American Sign Language and understanding of Deaf culture Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work onsite in Jonesboro, GA for the entire school year
