Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity near Rome, GA, supporting students and educational staff with your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter. This vital role empowers students who are deaf or hard of hearing to fully participate in their educational journey by facilitating effective communication between students, teachers, and peers.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modes commonly used in school settings Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as RID, EIPA, or state equivalent) Previous experience interpreting in K-12 educational environments is highly preferred Strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreting standards Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skillsKey Responsibilities:
Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, extracurricular activities, and school events Foster understanding, participation, and inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing Work collaboratively with educators, support staff, and families to understand each student's unique needs Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with school guidelines Stay current with best practices and continuing education requirements for interpreters in an educational settingPerks & Benefits:
