ANNOUNCEMENT & PURPOSE OF POSITION
Bi-Lingual Requirement - This position requires proficiency in English and Spanish, including the ability to read, write, and speak both languages fluently. The Pottawattamie County WIC Program has an opening for a full-time bi-lingual support staff person to work directly with WIC participants, WIC staff and serve as a receptionist. Must be able to translate for Spanish speaking families in verbal and written form.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Inputs client information into the WIC computer System needed to complete all appointment types following HHS WIC program policy and procedures. Issues WIC benefits and Farmer's Market vouchers, explains the general use of WIC benefits, issues eWIC cards, and acts as receptionist for all clients entering office. Translates for Spanish speaking families in verbal and written form. Updates the WIC computer System as per instructions from the State WIC Office. Responsible for maintaining participant records, transferring information to and from other state agencies, keeping records and reports necessary for program compliance. Uses appropriate reports to follow up on missed appointments, pending terminations and newly eligible participants and files completed reports electronically. Attends all mandatory agency and state meetings. Answers phone, schedules WIC participant appointments Participates in WIC outreach activities and events Performs other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY
Ability to communicate and work well with the public in English and Spanish. Ability to type accurately and have general knowledge of basic computer software. Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.

Work is generally performed indoors in an office setting - clinics are held in churches or other public buildings with or without air conditioning. Normal to considerable contact with public - work may be stressful at times. Work may require bending, lifting and carrying various clinic supplies weighing up to 30 lb
