Work Schedule Standard hours:

The ideal candidate is ambitious and passionate about helping others. The Medical/Legal Advocate provides support and resources to survivors of sexual assault while working to end sexual violence within our community. This role requires independence, strong judgment, effective problem-solving, and the ability to meet deadlines. Metro East Every Survivor Counts is an Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault (ICASA) member Rape Crisis Center serving Madison and St. Clair Counties. Key Responsibilities Provide confidential crisis intervention, advocacy for medical and legal needs, and case management services to survivors and their support networks. Participate in an on-call rotation alongside full-time and part-time crisis advocates. Accompany survivors to hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and court proceedings to offer guidance, support, and information. Keep survivors and their families informed on legal processes and case progress. Deliver advocacy initiatives and professional training to medical, legal, and community partners. Support the development and maintenance of collaborative agreements with hospitals, law enforcement, social service agencies, and State's Attorney offices. Stay informed on state and federal laws, as well as ICASA training requirements. Provide referrals to appropriate community resources to meet survivor needs. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided. Assist in onboarding and training new advocates, including job shadowing opportunities. Report suspected abuse or neglect in compliance with mandated reporter requirements. Participate in staff meetings and support fundraising and community awareness events. Adhere to all agency policies, procedures, and protocols. Implement new guidelines and adapt to ongoing organizational changes. Split time between the St. Clair County office (Belleville, IL) and the St. Clair County Courthouse MDT team. Occasionally work from the Madison County office (Alton, IL) for meetings, training, or coverage. Meet required minimum direct service hours per/month. Support social media efforts, crisis team scheduling, and volunteer coordination as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or 2+ years of experience in a medical/legal field preferred (minimum associate degree required; experience considered). A background in education, public communication, or public health is a plus. You must pass a DCFS and UCIA fingerprint background checks. Reliable telecommunication device. Valid driver's license, insurance, and reliable personal vehicle for agency travel. Willingness to travel throughout Illinois and to St. Louis County, MO for advocacy services and training. Strong networking and relationship-building skills are important. Confident public speaking ability with diverse audiences.
