Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting elementary students. This contract opportunity is based at an EC-3rd grade campus, where you'll work within interconnected buildings, ensuring seamless support across settings. Your expertise will help foster communication and learning alongside a variety of students, from small groups to broader classroom environments.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in educational settings Experience supporting students at the elementary level, ideally from early childhood through third grade Ability to adapt communication style for mainstream, DHH self-contained, and small-group situations Understanding of Deaf culture, as well as the needs of students using related services Collaborative mindset to work effectively with teachers, specialists, and other service providers
Responsibilities & Duties:
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities to ensure access to the curriculum for DHH students Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and related service staff in a variety of settings Support students in mainstream and self-contained environments, adapting to dynamic daily schedules Provide language and communication assistance during small-group instruction, therapy sessions, and individual support moments Assist with classroom integration and inclusion, ensuring all students participate fully in school life Imagine the difference you can make as you help bridge communication for students during foundational years of learning.
